Puketawai Pa
Project Control Group (PCG)
As part of the Crown funding agreement, a Project Control Group (PCG) was established to provide governance and oversight of the Puketawai Pā Rebuild Project.
The role of the PCG is to ensure the project is delivered effectively by monitoring progress against agreed timelines, overseeing budgets, meeting reporting obligations, managing project risks, and ensuring each stage of the rebuild is completed to a high standard.
The Project Control Group works collaboratively with the Project Manager, consultants, contractors, Trustees, and funding partners to help guide the successful delivery of the rebuild for the benefit of current and future generations.

Project Design
To help bring the vision for the new Puketawai Pā to life, the Trustees engaged Manaia Ngata of CPS, a Senior Project Manager, to lead the project management and delivery of the rebuild.
Working alongside the project team, Orua Architects were appointed to develop the design for the new marae, ensuring it reflects the aspirations of our whānau while incorporating modern, resilient building practices suitable for the future.
To provide independent financial oversight and commercial expertise, Logan Pierard of 7 Rivers was engaged as the project's Quantity Surveyor (QS). The QS advises the Project Control Group on project budgets, construction cost estimates, procurement, and tender management, helping to ensure the rebuild remains financially sustainable and delivers value for money while maintaining the project's quality and vision.
Together, the Project Manager, architects, Quantity Surveyor, Trustees, and Project Control Group work collaboratively to deliver a rebuild that honours the cultural significance of Puketawai Pā. Through careful planning, robust project management, sound financial oversight, and strong governance, the team is committed to creating a safe, resilient, and enduring pā that will serve our whānau, hapū, and future generations for many years to come.
